The Territory of the Virgin Islands is set to proudly commemorate 75 years since the restoration of its legislature, marking a significant milestone under the theme: Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future: The Virgin Islands 75 Year Journey Towards Self-Determination!
The celebrations, scheduled from Sunday 2, November to Sunday 23, November, will be officially launched with a National Church Service at St. George’s Episcopal – Anglican Church on Main Street, Road Town, Tortola, on 2nd November.
Honourable Corine George-Massicote, Speaker of the House of Assembly, invites the community to participate in a variety of commemorative events throughout the month.
“We will start the celebrations with a National Church Service at the St. George’s Episcopal – Anglican Church on Main Street, Road Town, Tortola on the 2nd of November,” she said. “Some of the other things to look out for are a Special Sitting; a Mock Sitting; Daily General Knowledge Quiz, and a Recognition Ceremony at the Eileene Parsons Auditorium on Friday 7th, November at 7:00 p.m. The grand finale will be a concert bringing the community together in celebration.”
