BUSINESS TO ATTEND OECS REVIEW OF LOCAL ARTS AND CRAFTS SECTOR

Businesses in the arts and crafts sector have until Friday, 27 August to register to attend the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Export Development Unit (OECS/EDU) diagnostic review and analysis of the sector.

The review will be held in Conference Room #2 at the Central Administration Building on Monday, August 30th at 9:00 a.m. and will help to establish the current status of the Territory’s arts and crafts sector and its contribution to the economy.


BRITISH PASSPORT FEES INCREASED

The Civil Registry and Passport Office has announced an increase in British Passport Fees.

Effective July 5, persons applying for British Passports will have to pay in addition to postage fees, $205 for an adult 32 page passport and $247 for an adult 48 page passport. The fee for a child 32 page passport with validity for five years is $130.

WILLIAM BOYD McCLEARY SWORN IN AS NEW GOVERNOR

His Excellency the Governor, Mr. William Boyd McCleary, CMG, CVO was sworn-in as the 15th Governor of the Territory today at a ceremony held at the House of Assembly Chambers.

The Governor took the Oaths of Allegiance and Execution of office before an audience of Government Ministers, High Court Justices, members of the House of Assembly, senior government officials and other invited guests.

LONDON OFFICE TO FEATURE LOCAL TALENT AT ART AND CULTURE SHOW

As part of Territory Day celebrations, the BVI London Office will host its annual Art and Culture Show and Territory Day reception on Thursday, July 1 at 6 pm at the BVI House.

The show will be held in memory of local Virgin Islands artist the late Watts Pemberton and will exhibit artwork from 16 Virgin Islanders who have contributed to the show since its inception in 2004. Music of Virgin Islands artists will also serve as entertainment for the evening’s celebration while books by local authors will be on display.

PREMIER HEADS DELEGATIONS TO BERMUDA AND LONDON MEETINGS

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE, will on Thursday lead a delegation to Bermuda to attend the June 4–5 Pre-Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) meeting.

Delegates convening in Bermuda will formalise common issues for discussion ahead of the annual OTCC meeting to be held in London later this year.

Premier O’Neal will meet with counterparts from other United Kingdom Overseas Territories namely Anguilla, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
